Off the starting blocks!

So, we have our first Mumma's Market under our belts :)
Our Farnham Market has been and gone and I have just about recovered!
I enjoyed it so much I already can't wait for the next one.  Nearly 100 people turned up with some even braving the snow!
The atmosphere was brilliant with lots of lovely, friendly stallholders and some equally lovely people coming through the door.  There were lots of Tigers and Butterflies wandering round thanks to Gemma the face-painter from Gliterbugz.  She was even able to put my very sensitive  preschooler at ease.  The boy who cannot stand to touch new textures or have the tiniest amount of dirt on him had his face painted!!  There was also lots of bouncy castle fun and even a couple of visits from Iggle Piggle!  By the end of the afternoon I was so tired and my face ached from smiling so much but I was happy :)
I got home to an overwhelming response on our Facebook group from stallholders and visitors to the market.  I was happy with how things went but the important thing is to get feedback from people there because, lets face it, I would be rather biased ;)  It seems people really enjoyed themselves and were able to pick up some great bargains too.

I am now taking bookings for our Alton Market on Sunday 7th April.  We have some stallholders from Farnham joining us already like Can't Sew Won't Sew, Busy Beans and Planet Bounce as well as some new stallholders like Smallprint Fingerprint Jewellery and Sock Monkey UK.  I have also been able to secure a general talk from St John Ambulance and a baby massage demonstration from Little Bliss.  At Alton there are 3 different rooms.  The main hall will be selling stalls and the bouncy castle, the lounge bar will be St John's Ambulance and the Garden Room will be the quiet room with Baby Massage and refreshments.  At least, that is how it is planned in my head at the moment over 4 weeks before the day.  Things may have changed by the time we get there!

I am now thinking forward to where to hold the next Mumma's Market.  I have had many requests including Farnborough, Aldershot, Guildford, Ash, Fleet to name just a few.  I have today been contacting halls.  I am finding many of them just a little bit too small.  I think Farnham Memorial Hall is the smallest I would like to go to just because so many people were left disappointed after being unable to book a stall when we booked up so quickly.

I have been working on our website too.  I am not entirely sure what I am doing but Guildford Computers and Repairs have been helping me quite a bit.  It is so frustrating to be so technically UNaware but every day is a school day here.

I just want to say a massive thank you to all that came to the market in Farnham last Sunday.  A special thank you to the lovely stallholders who really did make the atmosphere something special.  Also, to my great friends who stepped up to help me on the day and to my 2 little assistants who "helped Mumma with her Mumma's party" and my beautiful girl who took some amazing photos so i can remember my first Mumma's Market forever.  I feel like a very lucky lady :)

A New Venture!

Hi, my name is Sarah and I run Mumma's Markets.  The past couple of months or so have been quite whirlwind after deciding to start this venture.  So far we have our first Mumma's Market booked and sold out for Farnham with people still asking for stalls.  Yesterday, i finalised details of our next Mumma's Market in Alton and stalls are already flying out the door!  I am quite amazed at the interest.  It was something i thought would be really useful for me when I was buying and selling my little men's clothes, toys and equipment, for everything to be under one roof.  And it seems others like the idea too.  I am really excited/nervous about our first Mumma's Market in Farnham but have had some great support from some amazing women - you know who you are!
I am very passionate about mainly things which Mumma's Markets encompasses including pregnancy, babies, children, parenting, bagging bargains, discovering new things..... amongst other things.
I have so many ideas for future markets including baby CPR, baby massage, children's hairdressers, baby signing, healthy and safety awareness advice and others.  I really look forward to logging onto our Facebook group everyday and seeing more suggestions from potential buyers and more product ideas from local independent businesses.
I love that some of our stallholders at the Farnham market will be donating to charity.  Bun In The Oven Nappy Cakes will be donating to Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice!  Planet Bounce will be donating to Chloe and Sophie's Special Ears Fund who will also be holding a stall at the market.
Planet Bounce have agreed to donate 25% of their profits at each market to a local charity of our choosing.  I am also hoping to arrange a raffle at future markets with the profits from that going to local charities.  Each market will have a different local charity being supported. At Farnham it will be Chloe and Sophie's Special Ears Fund.  I am looking into supporting Christopher's Children's Hospice for the Alton market.  Thereafter I will be looking to support the Dannie Goodridge Fund, Phyllis Tuckwell and Disability Challengers plus any other local charities which are suggested to me.
I hope everyone has as much fun at the Farnham Mumma's Market as I have had arranging it.  I'll write more afterwards.
